I’m so thrilled to invite you to join me once again for Art on the Trails, a free outdoor art workshop & exhibition hosted by Growing In Process in collaboration with the Middlebury Area Land Trust (MALT) and Middlebury Studio School, as part of the Vermont Craft Council's Spring Open Studio Weekend.
The Details:
Workshop with Middlebury Studio School Saturday May 24, 12 p.m.
Exhibition walk with The Green Mountain Club Sunday May 25, 1:30 p.m.
Location: Wright Park TAM Trailhead in Middlebury, Vermont (Parking off of Seymour Street Extension)

Last year’s event was full of joy: families and artists of all ages gathering among the trees, discussing the art, experimenting with natural pigments, and connecting through shared curiosity. Everyone enjoyed last year's event so much that we've decided to bring it back again this year!
A Living Exhibition: New Work Along the Trails
For this year's event, I’m creating an entirely new body of work—a series of paintings inspired by the land, made with colors I’ve foraged and processed by hand. One of the things that makes this event so special is the juxtaposition of fine art with the natural environment. You will have the opportunity to walk the trail as you would a museum, your exhibition guide in hand, and learn about the pigments and places that inspired the work as you walk. The most exciting part of this experience is to see how the environment impacts the way the work is experienced; the shifting light, the shifting sounds of the forest, and of course, the unpredictability of the weather, all add to the impact of the experience.

After your hike, join us at the trail-head studio pavilion for a free workshop led by me and the team at Middlebury Studio School. We'll be working with natural pigments—many of which were foraged right here along the trails in Vermont—to create expressive artwork inspired by the landscape.
This event is open to all ages, and no experience is needed. Whether you're a professional artist or just curious, you won't want to miss this unique experience combining art and the natural world.
Art on the Trails is more than an event. It’s about reimagining where and how we engage with art. It’s about accessibility, community, and our shared love of wild & beautiful spaces.
The exhibition will take place rain or shine; workshop may be postponed in the case of heavy rain. Make sure you are sign up for my newsletter Earth & Easel to get Art on the Trails updates, sneak peeks of the new work I'll be showing, and behind-the-scenes stories from the pigment process.
I can't wait to gather again—under the leaves, among the colors, and in community.
