'Indigo Milkcap No.4'
original art
12x24
goldenrod, oil on canvas
If you have ever discovered an indigo milkcap, you know what it means to find a treasure. This painting is named for my favorite mushroom, the blue indigo milkcap, which oozes blue fluid when plucked from the forest floor. The overall composition recalls the colors of both the cap of the mushroom and the leafy beds it emerges from, while details of the painting suggest its gills and blue milk. The painting is not just a nod to its namesake, but also a reminder that uncanny beauty can be found in unlikely places.
This piece is part of the series “Of September.” In the colder days, when things are a bit more difficult, the memory of September keeps us going when we need it most. All original works in the series include some hand-made pigment from goldenrod plants which were harvested at the height of their bloom. The paintings in this series serve as a reminder of nature's most bountiful and generous season.
Please consider measurements carefully before purchase and take the time to view colors on different monitors, as colors may appear different on different devices. I have done my best to represent all artworks accurately. All works are signed, stamped, and titled individually by the artist.
Please note that your purchase does not include a frame. This mounted canvas original arrives ready to hang with picture wire, so it doesn’t need to live in a frame. If you are unsure about framing, I have created a guide for you here.
