This painting was created as part of the "Mud Season" Collection. Inspired by walks in the woods and the hardest parts of the journey, this collection helps me to remember that difficult roads lead to beautiful views.
 
This piece is one of the most representational in the series, recalling the colors and textures of its namesake Starry Bristle Moss--one of my favorite forest treasures. The painting utilizes earth pigment mostly in underpainting and in the subtle variations of grey in its ground. With its bold shapes and bright greens, this piece would look exceptional displayed near a plant or other natural object.
