This painting was created as part of the "Stone & Bloom" Collection, an exploration of the interplay between ancient and ephemeral wisdom. The collection builds upon ancient pigments with hues reminiscent of fleeting blooms, clouds, and fields in an attempt to capture the essence of these familiar yet transient moments in a contemporary abstract form.
 
This painting is one of my personal favorites from the collection, as it captures a gestural movement and the blooming greens of new spring growth. Hand-ground charcoal pigments nod to the ancient wisdom of springtime with a darkness that offsets the spring ephemerals that inspired this piece. Small areas of canvas have deliberately been left raw, suggesting future growth.
