'The Grass in Seed and the Chicory in Bloom'
Fine Art Print on Watercolor Paper or Mounted Canvas
This gestural painting was composed on a sunny day overlooking a meadow and a brilliant blue sky, when the grass was at the peak of its greenery. The brush strokes reflect the joy and openness felt in the moment of the painting’s creation, colors melting into one another and drawing the eye towards a single point of focus. The composition suggests that the entire landscape culminates in a single seeded tuft of grass, reminding the viewer that large gestures are made up of small details.
This artwork is part of the July 2024 ‘To the Woods’ collection. The series is filled with the buzzing humming energy of full summer. This energy surrounded me each time I sat down to paint. For this series I worked almost exclusively outdoors, in the flower fields around the Wood’s Market Garden farmstand as well as in some of my favorite fields near Middlebury, Vermont. Bees often landed on my canvas looking for pollen amongst the colors. I hope these paintings remind you of these full bustling days of summer, even when they have given way to the stillness of quieter seasons.
Please consider measurements carefully before purchase and take the time to view colors on different monitors, as colors may appear different on different devices. I have done my best to represent all artworks accurately.
Fine art prints on paper will look best when displayed in a frame. I currently do not offer frames for artwork of this size, but you can check out my frame recommendations here.
Fine art prints on canvas come mounted and ready to hang, so they do not need to live in a frame.
All print works are signed, stamped, and titled individually by the artist. There is an additional handling time of 10-14 days for all prints, as they are made especially for you.
