Wild grape, buckthorn berry on paper

15x15

This piece was created entirely of fresh berry ink, on a late summer morning. The soft color variations of the composition highlight the range of color possible with natural materials while also highlighting their ephemerality.

This painting is part of the Fall ‘24 ‘Sacred Circle’ series. The paintings in this series were inspired by the Spirit in Nature paths in Ripton, Vermont during peak fall foliage. They contain pigments foraged during that same fall season, including sacred circle charcoal, goldenrod, buckthorn berry, wild grape, and orange ochre rock.

Please note the ephemeral nature of botanical inks and pigments; original art has been sealed with UV protectant varnish, but should be displayed out of full sun to slow color shifts. Change in color is expected within five years, and is part of the unique character of this artwork. Compositions utilize a combination of fugitive natural pigments and traditionally manufactured paints which are more lightfast so that they will continue to look beautiful even as they change over time. If you are concerned about the color shifts of natural pigments, you should purchase an archival fine art print, which captures the same beautiful color of the original pigments but will not change over time.

Please consider measurements carefully before purchase and take the time to view colors on different monitors, as colors may appear different on different devices. I have done my best to represent all artworks accurately. All works are signed, stamped, and titled individually by the artist.

This original work on paper will look best when displayed in a frame. I am now able to offer framed or unframed options, depending on your needs. Simply select your preference at checkout.
